WILL NOT stop our party!!

We will continue as planned at the park, unless we are faced with torrential downpours tomorrow morning. No matter what, our day WILL go on! If we move indoors, the food and raffle will go on, as well as the entertainment for the kids. We'll put together some games for the younger people in the gym and the 'older' people will be able to hang out in the church hall.

IN THE EVENT OF A VENUE CHANGE:
1) I will post our final decision by 9am.
2) We will move to Haddon Heights Baptist Church/Baptist Regional School, about 1/2 mile away from the park.
3) Someone will also be at the park to let people know we've moved and to give directions as needed.

In the case of rain, this is our game plan, *for now*,
all details are subject to change, at any time, on my whim. :)

1) We have tents. If the rain is mild-moderate and sporadic, we will be going forward with our outdoor event. Wear your 'play clothes' and come ready for a fun, sloshy walk with a slightly stressed out organizer.

2) In the event of torrential downpours, gale force winds or horrific rain, we will move to BAPTIST REGIONAL SCHOOL Haddon Heights campus (Haddon Heights Baptist Church). We will be monitoring the weather overnight and will make the "FINAL CALL" by 9am on Saturday. I will post here and on Facebook if things are changing. IF WE MOVE INSIDE: Obviously, there won't be much "walking", but we'll do our best to organize some games and relays for the kids in the gym. All the food and raffle event will go on as planned.

I've received several emails with some good questions about the Family Fun Walk and related stuff, so I thought I'd post some good FAQs:

1) We didn't get a mailer! Are we still able to come?

If you didn't, no worries! We targeted the school and church families and people from town that have worked with Jeff. If you don't get one all the info you'll need is at THE WALK WEBSITE click on the top tab titled "Family Fun Walk". You can get time, date and location details there. You can also click to download a walker registration form.

2) We live too far away or are planning on being away on the 6th, how can we participate?

First, you can always fund raise like normal and mail in your walk form with your collected funds. We strongly discourage mailing cash, however. We'll set a "mail-in" date in the near future. Also, in the right hand corner of the blog you'll find a paypal button. If you won't be able to join us or are unable to raise funds but will still like to play a part, consider an on-line donation.

3) We heard about special sport-team incentives? BRS class incentives?

Yup! Attention TSCAC teams: Get a group of 5+ athletes from your team together and fund raise. For every $1000 your team raises you'll get 10% back (up to $500) to use at Sport's Specialties in Haddon Heights for equipment, uniforms or other needs.

BASKETBALL TEAMS: The program that raises the most money will receive a free clinic with Coach Mike Show and the D-5 of Baptist Bible College.

BRS students: The elementary and highschool classes with the highest percentage of involvement will receive something special. To be counted, the students must be present at the walk and have raised at least $100 or be part of a family group that raised at least $350.

4) What is a trust fund? Doesn't health insurance cover medical bills and medications?
This specific fund has been established and is supervised by Immanuel Baptist Church and will be dedicated only to be used for medical bills and related expenses. While there is health insurance, every procedure, prescription, visit, treatment and hospitalization comes with a co-pay. Co-pays alone can add up to hundreds of dollars month or more. Additionally, there will likely come a time when Jeff's cancer has advanced rapidly and he'll need more aggressive and costly treatments, like a stem cell transplant. This trust will be there to help bridge the gap for the family.

5) What is all this talk about "sponsors"?
There are businesses who have agreed to be "Quarter Mile" sponsors. You'll see their signs on the walk and can grab their literature from our sponsor's table. They rock! There are also sponsors who are donating goods, services and gift cards for our raffle. We have had some great tentative connections already. Some are mind blowing!! Like to eat? Thirsty? We have some great vendors lined up who are donating all kinds of goodies for our walkers.

It's official! The Website is open. I'm sure we'll tweak and add as we go, but it is up and running.

You can get walk information, download walker forms and keep an eye out for new sponsors.

We've already got some AMAZING stuff lined up for our Raffle. I can't tip too much of our hand yet, but let's just say.. this is going to be a GREAT raffle.

Huge-super thanks to Nathan, my brother-in-law for doing all our web stuff. We owe you! And by "owe" I mean, like a big hug next time we see you! :)

We're getting up and running.

This blog will be used primarily for updates on Jeff and the Walk. We've recently added several great sponsors to the event and things are falling in place for a great day! Check back here regularly for updates and details.

In the next week or so, JeffPrenticetrustfund.com will be up and running. This will be the "official" walk site and will allow you to download walk forms and flyers, donate on-line and get all the information you'll need.

The word has spread like fire thanks to the people that know and love the Prentice family. Keep it going!

Several people have contacted me asking if there is a way to help with the walk. Here's what we "need":

1) Keep your eyes out for a mailing. We're putting out a mass-mailing to all BRS students, church family, friends and family. If you don't get the mailing, don't be left-out. We're putting out about 350 mailers, but it is likely we didn't get everyone in "the net". Check out the website to find out how to register and to get details. We want YOU there!

2) We're currently rounding up business sponsors. Are you involved in a business that would like to get some great publicity? We're looking for "1/4 mile Sponsors", raffle donations (goods and services donations, gift cards), and vendors willing to donate water, drinks and food. EMAIL us if you would like to work with us. We're already working with some phenomenal sponsors and are on the lookout for more.

3) Get your walker form and hit the pavement. Round up sponsors willing to support and encourage a great family.
